At Cyprus Chocolates in Pano Platres, we organise hands-on chocolate workshops for families, tourists, school groups, companies, and anyone interested in learning more about chocolate. Participants create and decorate their own chocolate bar, taste different types of chocolate, and explore the world of cacao through a practical and interactive experience.
The Chocolate Bar Workshop lasts approximately one hour. Guests settle in, put on aprons and hats, and begin creating their own chocolate bars under the guidance of our chocolatiers. The workshop is suitable for both adults and children, making it a memorable family activity as well as a unique experience for visitors exploring Cyprus.
Understanding Cacao Selection and Chocolate Making
Real chocolate begins with cacao. During the workshop, guests learn what cacao fruit, cacao beans, and cacao butter are, as well as how cacao travels from tree to chocolate bar.
We explain how cacao is grown, harvested, fermented, dried, and transformed into chocolate. Participants also discover how cacao origin influences flavour, with different beans offering fruity, floral, earthy, nutty, or rich chocolate notes. This is why fine chocolate is often compared to wine or coffee — flavour depends on origin, processing, and craftsmanship.
Guests also learn how bean-to-bar chocolate differs from mass-produced chocolate and why quality chocolate is defined not only by sweetness, but also by aroma, texture, balance, and depth of flavour.
Hands-On Chocolate Workshop Experience
The practical part of the workshop begins with creating your own chocolate bar. Each participant receives a mould and professionally tempered chocolate, removes air bubbles, and decorates the chocolate using their preferred toppings.
While the chocolate sets, guests enjoy a guided chocolate tasting experience featuring around 8–10 different chocolates. Participants learn to distinguish between dark, milk, and white chocolate, as well as chocolate made from cacao beans of different origins.
The tasting experience demonstrates that a high cacao percentage does not simply mean bitterness. Fine chocolate can be smooth, aromatic, complex, and surprising — offering much more than sweetness alone.
At the end of the workshop, each participant packs and takes home their own handcrafted chocolate bar weighing approximately 100g.
Experience Cyprus’ Bean-to-Bar Chocolate Factory
